I saw this runway light/weather alert thing, and I thought to myself, 'this could be really cool, or a dud'. Turns out it was amazing! My husband loved it! He is a pilot who has a few planes, but just restored a J3 Piper cub with some buddies. And after they fought over what the original yellow color should be, they settled on a yellow that is almost this exact color. He said its a really cool gift. When he initially set up the software, it took a minute for it to flee download and work, but he left it plugged in overnight. And then the next morning it worked great. He told me he's so excited. Because whenever the light turns the color saying that our local airport has clear skies. Then he's gonna run down to the airport to fly. Long story...but my point is: It's a great gift for a picky pilot who has everything.

Vintage METAR Light ™
The METAR Light is a genuine vintage aluminum taxiway light with a glass globe that has been restored and modified to speak and display flight conditions for any airport or airfield that receives FAA METAR (weather) reports. Great for the office or hangar and a fun conversation starter.
This version of the METAR Light comes with a glass globe at no additional cost.
It displays color coded flight conditions and will speak a summary of the lastest METAR report when the base is touched.
Flight conditions are automatically updated from the FAA aviation web service every 15 minutes using your existing WIFI network. No subscription is required.
- Glows green for VFR
- Glows blue for MVFR
- Glows red for IFR
- Glows purple for LIRF
- Pulsates if winds are 25 knots or greater
- Lightly flickers if there has been lightening reported in the area.
